B.A.M.E.

This section is currently managed by OUTBURST UK who is also a member of InterPride. (There has been much discussion about the idea of having OUTBURST UK taking such a forward role, and in keeping with Pride London’s articles and memorandum this makes them the organization to be in partnership with Pride in managing this area).  Also in 2009 OUTBURST UK did such a successful job in ensuring that the various sections of the BAME LGBT Community were involved that it resulted in a spectular stage event which saw over twenty-six  thousand people attend the area, making this the largest ever BAME event of its kind in the UK . Plus on the march they had pride of place at the head of the parade and were truly an inspiration to all carrying the Pride rainbow flag.

OUTBURST UK this year will be joining forces with Pride London by coming in on the same day to make this event even bigger in 2010. As there have always been discussion around “Why should there be another Black Pride Event?” OUTBURST UK have taken on board this discussion and decided that to follow in the footsteps of San Francisco, Toronto and other Pride Events that have a strong BAME organization alongside it, to become a part of the main day but yet still keep their identity. So in 2010 OUTBURST UK will continue to have their own space on the same day as Pride London in Central London making it for the first time a free event for all to attend.

Areas that again that will be worked on by BAME for 2010, will be the campaigns, the Conference that will set the political agenda for Pride London, the parade  and the stage area.

The current convenor for the BAME caucus of Pride London is OUTBURST UK and as such their representatives attend the Communities committee where they are kept up to date with all the campaigns of Pride London, thus making them the only actual relevant voice to steer the caucus as they are aware of the direction that Pride is going in.
