Accessing Pride London events and information

Pride London tries very hard to make sure that everyone can access as much of its events and information as possible.  Please find following further information on this or email for further assistance.

Help in changing the look of our website

My Web My Way was developed by the BBC as a source of accessibility help for all computer users. It includes information on changing not only the

colours and text size and style of our website, but will explain how these changes can be made to affect every site you visit if you wish.

Accessibility features

We have incorporated the following into our site:

  • text based navigation
  • a publicly accessible sitemap
  • resizable text
  • a skip to content link to help screen reader and keyboard users access content quickly
  • alternative stylesheets (or viewing themes), (we are working to expand these to include a version designed to assist visitors with dyslexia)
  • a flexible page layout (the centre column resizes with the width of your browser window)
  • Screen-readers

Many screen-readers are available such as JAWS or Window-Eyes (both approximately £400).  ScreenReader.net offer a free screen-reader, called Thunder, for personal use on XP and computers. Thunder will work with most common Windows software such as Microsoft Word, WordPad, Notepad and Outlook Express.

In order to browse the web, users will also need to download WebbIE, a free text browser specifically developed for blind and visually-impaired people.  There are also a number of speech programs such as Fangs, FoxyVoice and Fire that add screen-reading functionality.

In order to access music, e-books and radio etc, users will need Real Alternative - a freeware alternative to RealPlayer. Some complex visual tasks such as dealing with pictures and inserting symbols in Microsoft Word or using Outlook may also require additional functionality.

    Feedback

We welcome feedback on our website. If you have had any problems or any issues while using our site, we would like to hear about it! Our details can be found on the Contacts page.
