trans with pride

Trans with Pride logo 08The Transgender community is diverse and includes male to female transsexuals (MtF), female to male transsexuals (FtM), bigendered, gender queer, gender questioning and of course all of these can be Lesbian Gay or Bisexual...including Straight! Trans has always existed but the trans community has increased in its visibility over the years and is becoming more active.

Photo by Angella DeeIn preparation for the Pride celebrations and with the aim of making Trans visible and part of the celebrations, several London Trans groups and representatives have met regularly to plan the festivities. We want to invite as many trans folk as possible. We will meet prior to the march, celebrate the march with all other groups and organisations and enjoy the rally with a hopefully a trans presence in the main stage and the women's stage and a Trans stall in Trafalgar Square!

15 people from the Trans Community have now volunteered to help plan and facilitate the Trans Conference 2008, which will take part on Friday 4th July. Based on last year's feedback we want this year's workshops to centre mostly on group discussion in order to offer delegates an opportunity to talk more constructively in a space.

In conjunction with the Central School of Speech and Drama, facilitation trainer Richard Fallon and Jay Stewart from Gendered Intelligence, the volunteers are planning what important topics within the Trans community need to be discussed at the conference.
